Gummer stays

Midfielder Sean Gummer has pledged his future to Gresley Rovers after deciding to turn down a move to Premier Division Frickley Athletic.
Manager Gary Norton said: "Sean says he wants to stay and fight for his place in the side which is great news for us because we haven't got a lot of bodies in our first team squad. Because he's not been playing regularly he's a bit off the pace of things at the moment and we have agreed in principal a loan deal to get him some games in. We did send him out earlier in the season but had to call him back after one game because of our need at the time. Sean's decision to stay is a huge boost to us especially after losing Chris Gray this week. He is a confidence player and when he's fully fit and at it he is a problem for any side."

On the subject of new players Norton revealed that he is confident of adding to the squad before the weekend. "We have provisionally agreed a loan deal for a left sided player with a Conference North club. We are hoping to be able to tie up the loose ends of the deal and complete the paperwork in time for the player to be with us on Saturday. We are also talking to a number of other clubs at the moment with a view to bringing in further players."

One player who won't be joining Rovers is Rocester striker Richard Mitchell. Norton commented: "Richard has decided to stay with Rocester after we failed to agree terms with him. His wage expectations we quite excessive especially when compared to what he is on at Rocester so unfortunately that's the end of that."
