Chris Gray approach

Chris Gray

Gresley Rovers have today spoken to Redditch with regard to their approach to Gresley Rovers midfielder Chris Gray, requesting an explanation as to why they have spoken with the player and offered him terms within the seven days notice of approach.
Gresley Rovers have also expressed their concern as to why the Birmingham press were being briefed last weekend as to the fact that they were targeting the player - an act in its self, which in essence amounted to an approach. This was unsettling and prior to any formal notice of approach being received.

It has also been reported again today within the Birmingham press that Chris Gray will make his debut for Redditch tomorrow.

The Club got its first official indication of an approach when its former Secretary received 'notice of 7 days' on Monday 29th November, the paperwork not actually received by the Club until the Tuesday 30th November of this week.

Gresley Rovers acknowledge that Redditch have accepted that an error has been made, both in terms of failing to serve the notice correctly and in relation to the timing of their contact with the player.

Gresley Rovers have always had a good relationship with Redditch from their respective days within the Southern League and hope that this matter will not damage that position.

Chris Gray will be in the Gresley Rovers squad tomorrow for its trip to Chorley. The Club will be speak to Chris again over the weekend, and will do everything it can to keep Chris at the Club.
