Fitness First Burton & Gresley Rovers FC are appealing to the local community to join the nation in the Fitness First Sport Relief Mile - the biggest Mile in history.
Participants will be completing a distance of one mile at various times on Saturday, July 10 at the Fitness First Burton Club in Staffordshire.

Gresley Rovers FC prepare for the new season by going the extra mile, incorporating the Fitness First Sport Relief Mile into their training preparation. Sport Relief & Fitness FirstDressed in the Sport Relief red sock, Fitness First staff and members along with Gresley Rovers players will be hopping, skipping, jumping, running, and walking their Mile to raise money for Sport Relief '04.

Chairman Mark Evans says "I am delighted that Gresley Rovers are able to help raise much needed funds for a worthy cause, it's a perfect opportunity for the players and the Club to be involved with a community event that will be both fun and make a difference. Poverty is a worldwide problem and football is a worldwide language than transcends class, age, religious, and gender barriers"

It will be an action packed day for ALL the family, with a Bouncy Castle, Outdoor Classes for Kids and Adults, Beat the Keeper, Press Up Competition, Rowing Competition overlooking the Trent , Fire eating, Raffles and on-the-spot prizes, a BBQ and much more. Steve Powell, Personal Training Coordinator & Sport Relief Organiser at Fitness First Burton, says: "This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to make a real difference to the lives of others. As a company we are committed to get the nation more active by providing accessible, affordable places for people to work out and relax. Sometimes we all need a little extra incentive to get active, and what could be more motivating than raising funds for such an incredibly worthy cause - worldwide poverty.

"In the 'Freestyle Mile' participants are invited to travel the mile any way they choose from rollerskating to cycling, and the 'Time Trial Mile' offers those with a competitive edge a chance to set a time and train to beat it on the day. It will be a great day out for all the family as well as a chance to generate funds for Sport Relief."

Note: Sport Relief was set up by Comic Relief and BBC Sport. Its debut in 2002 raised more than £14 million, and that money is now hard at work. This time around Sport Relief is aiming to do even better. BBC regional teams will be reporting on the 14 official Fitness First Mile Events as part of the Sport Relief coverage on BBC 1 at 7pm on Saturday, July 10.
