It was a double celebration all round as on his 21st Birthday Gary White has given Gresley Rovers cause for some Birthday cheer by becoming the latest player from last season to commit to the Moat Ground, by signing a 12 month deal.
The birthday defender joined at the start of the 2002/3 season after being released from Stoke City and quickly established his self in the side as one of the clubs star players, achieving trials at both Bradford City and Crewe.

On securing White's signature, Gary Norton said "Gary White has proven over the last two seasons that he is one of the best young left sided players at this level and I am obviously delighted that he has agreed to remain with us for another season. He, like many of my squad, has attracted lots of interest from other clubs, including one at Conference level, but he has shown great loyalty and commitment to us by staying. He has a thoroughly professional attitude and is a real pleasure to work with. He has got a great future ahead of him. Because he's been with us for a couple of seasons, people often forget that he's still so young. His football qualities are complimented by his battling spirit and desire to win and these attributes fit in well with the type of squad I'm looking to develop for next season"

News of Gary's decision to remain at the Moat Ground will be a massive boost to supporters as he has developed over the last two seasons into a fans favourite.

Chairman Mark Evans added that he was "thrilled" that Gary had chosen to pledge his future to the Moat Ground, "Gary does really belie his age, he has a very professional perspective with regard to football and takes it very seriously. He has firm opinions on player responsibilities etc and has set himself some high standards and role models. During our discussions Gary and I spent a lot of time talking football he takes it very serious. It is refreshing to see someone who appreciates and understands the many challenges and opportunities that face Clubs, he values what a Club like Gresley Rovers means."
