Gresley bid farewell to the Southern League
Gresley Rovers Football Club bid a formal farewell to 'The Southern League' at the weekend when Chairman Mark Evans and Manager Gary Norton attended their Annual General Meeting and Annual Presentation Dinner.
Mark Evans commented that in addition to the formal business of the weekend, it was an opportunity for Gresley to say "au revoir" to some good friends.

Gresley have been members of The Southern League for 12 seasons 1992/1993 to 20003/2004, leaving as part of the Football Association's restructuring of the National League System and we will be joining the Unibond Northern Premier League for the season 2004/2005.

"It was a weekend of mixed emotions, a celebration of the successes member clubs have achieved over the season, a welcome to those Clubs joining from other feeder leagues and best wishes to those moving on".

Mark Evans added he was particularly heartened by the many comments of best wishes and good luck, personally expressed by so many fellow Directors and Officials.

He was pleased that thankfully the Southern League was able to address and finally conclude some management issues during its AGM that it has had over the last twelve months and that he felt the League would continue to go from strength to strength "they have great leadership and direction I wish them well".

Turning towards matters relating to next season, Evans added that he was excited by the move into the Unibond, considering it a positive step. As it turns out there is no real difference in terms of travelling distance and the League provides some very interesting local derbies "I am looking forward to the new season, our pre season preparations are on schedule".
