Carl Slater stays at the Moat Ground

It was confirmed today that Supporters' Player of the Year, Carl Slater (seen here with the Fleurtation England & Gresley window display), has put pen to paper and agreed to stay with the Club, despite him receiving interest from other clubs.
Gary Norton commenting on securing Carl's signature said "Carl is a local lad and is Rovers through and through and again, although other clubs were interested in signing Carl he told me towards the end of last season that he was going nowhere.

"He had a fantastic season last term and established himself as a regular member of the side. There are still areas of his game we are working on but his attitude and desire to improve together with his will to win are second to none.

"All of these attributes will stand him in good stead in the Unibond League. Last season was his first as a regular in the first team here and I'm looking for him to kick on to the next level which he is more than capable of doing.

Chairman Mark Evans added, "The spirit and desire that Carl shows for Gresley Rovers combined with his work rate and ethic produces a passion and energy that you want. I am delighted that Carl has decided to stay with us – it's great news."
