Moatmen 'not good enough'

Boss John McGinlay has revealed that some of his squad will be playing for their Gresley Rovers futures in their final game of the season at home to Cinderford Town tomorrow (Sat 3 pm).
The Moat boss says there will be big changes in the summer and he is looking to finalise his squad for Rovers' next campaign before pr-season training starts.

Said the Moat boss today: "The team has not been good enough in terms of consistency, play or desire. I have a list of players who I am interested in getting and I have spoken to some of them already. I would like to get things sorted out quickly and by the time we come back for pre-season I want the majority of next season's squad in place."

And McGinlay has issued an ultimatum to players already at the club to impress him tomorrow and make their minds up quickly whether or not they want to stay at the club.

"I have already spoken to some of the players at the club about next season and told them I want a quick decision on whether they want to stay," said McGinlay. !If they don't give me a quick answer they won't be here next season - we need quick answers as it is very important that we get a good start next season."

The Moat boss is urging his team to finish the season on a high note and also make amends for last Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Cinderford.

"Last week against Cinderford we lay down and accepted defeat," said McGinlay. "They were in the same position as us last week in that we needed to win, but our players, as a team, accepted defeat in the second half - they wanted to win the game more. After the Redditch game I wanted to finish the season with three wins, although it would not have made any difference to our overall season. It is important game tomorrow because some of the players have question marks hanging over them and they could do themselves a favour."

Gresley from: Sheils, Bluck, Warren, Gardner, Broadhurst, Woolley, Middleton, Wardle, Roberts, Coates, Peters, Grant, Kitching, Tucker, McGinlay, Willson.

Gresley reserves travel to face Boldmere St Michael's tomorrow (Sat 2.45pm).

Reserves from: Wright, Lees, Norton, Cheetham, Barker, Dennis, Bradshaw, Wagstaff, Sandar, Smith, Moran, McHarge, Harvey.
