Boss stays upbeat

Boss John McGinlay was in a positive frame of mind despite seeing his side beaten 4-0 at promotion chasing Tiverton Town on Thursday night.
With the Moatmen facing three games in five days, starting with tomorrow's Moat Ground clash with Atherstone United (3pm), McGinlay made wholesale changes, with only three players who started the 2-2 draw with Cirencester on Tuesday night in the line-up last night.

The Moat boss gave a debut to goalkeeper Mark Sheils, Dave Kearns and Chris Bradshaw made their first appearances of the season and there was a surprise return for midfielder Mark Dennis after being out injured for two months.

But despite fielding somewhat of a makeshift side, McGinlay thought his team were a little hard done by.

Said the Moat boss: "I was pleased with the performance last night and it was good to see that the lads who came in did well. The result was not a true reflection of the game and I thought it flattered them a bit. We have had another dodgy penalty decision go against us and we gifted them the third goal."

McGinlay was especially pleased with Sheils, saying: "the keeper did very well and looks like he could be a good find for us."

Rovers' boss names a full-strength squad for tomorrow's Moat Ground clash, with Barry Woolley, Michael Forsyth, Ritchie Gardner, Neil Kitching, Ravi Sangha, Danny Verity and Davis Donaldson all set to return, while Neil Broadhurst, Steve Coates and Simon Tucker are all likely to start after being on the bench last night.

"We rested three quarters of the side last night with tomorrow's game in mind, while we also play on Monday and Wednesday next week," said McGinlay.

Gresley from: Sheils, Gardner, Broadhurst, Woolley, Wardle, Forsyth, Warren, Roberts, Verity, Coates, Peters, Donaldson, Tucker, Sangha, Kitching, Bedward, Grant, Middleton.
