Gareth Holmes signs

Gareth Holms

Midfielder Gareth Holmes has signed for Gresley.
Gareth, recalled by Hucknall Town last week, has returned to the Moat Ground this time on a permanent deal.

Having initially signed on loan at the begining of September as part of the influx of new players brought in by manager Gary Norton, his battling midfield displays have helped turn Gresley's fortunes around from their shaky start to the season.

Gary Norton said: "I'm delighted with his decision to come here instead of playing at a higher level.

"Gareth was given the opportunity to make the shirt his own at Hucknall and the fact that he's turned round and said that he's enjoyed his football here at Gresley and wants to stay speaks volumes of the team spirit we have here at the Moat Ground.

"He will give us a further headache in midfield with the likes of Carl Slater who had a fine game against Bedworth but it's a good problem to have.

"Also Gareth should be available for our Trophy game at Chorley on Saturday which is brilliant news."
