Albion talent spotter joins Gresley
Story courtesy of
Burton Albion have lost one of their top talent spotters – to Gresley Rovers.
Peter Simpson, who has provided a steady flow of youth and reserve team players for the Brewers in the last three years, has agreed to join the Moatmen as a senior scout.

Explaining the move, he said: “I have never been part of the set up at Burton as such. Everything I have done for them has been on an unofficial basis and because I love working with and helping the kids. But Gresley approached me and asked me to be part of their staff. At first I said no, but they were very persistent and I finally agreed.”

Rovers regard Simpson as a valuable addition to their backroom team as they prepare for their first season of Beazer Premier Division football.

Gresley have no youth set up, however, and Simpson has told the Brewers’ youth development officer John Appleby that he will continue to send players to Eton Park.
