Atherstone pre-match news
Injuries to key players along with suspensions will hamper manager Jon Newsome’s team selection.
Chris Gray is serving his final game of his three-match suspension and defender Ian Bluck starts his enforced break of three matches.

Defender Stuart Evans is very doubtful with a leg injury as is Neil Kitching who is suffering from a thigh strain.

Gary White picked up a bruised foot playing for Crewe in midweek but should be available. Andy Cheetham has had a touch of flu but is hoping to be recovered in time.

Newsome said today: “I hope Whitey and Cheets are OK, otherwise we will be without our entire first-choice defence. It’s the worst it’s been this season in terms of having players out while suspensions don’t help at this time of the season.”

Newsome could be forced to play himself tomorrow and as drafted in defender Jim Parkinson and midfielder Earl Alexander from the reserves.

With the news of possible weather problems overnight, anyone travelling to Sheepy Road should phone the ground to check if the game is on.

Atherstone’s ground telephone number is 01827 717829.

We will endeavour to post on this site any news of the prospects of the game going ahead.
