Gresley Rovers vs Stapenhill

Manager Gary Norton used this friendly game to run the rule over a mixture first team, reserves and youth team players.

Gresley could have taken the lead on 16 minutes but the post prevented Tom Guiney from opening the score.

Stapenhill looked lively and Gresley keeper Lee Villiers was called on to prevent former Moatman Jon Jenkinson and Jon Shum from giving the visitors the advantage.

Midfielder Leon Doughty did get on the scoresheet for Gresley just after the half hour mark with a fine drive from just outside the penalty area beating Richard Chritchlow the visiting keeper.

In the second half Gresley added three more goals. The first from Jamie Barrett after some good work from Alexander and Nathan Jones. Carl Francis added the third after a mix up between Critchlow and a defender allowed the striker to tap the ball into an empty net. And, the fourth came with a couple of minutes left on the clock when Barrett rammed the ball home from close in.

Stapenhill did get on the scoresheet with a fine 25-yard shot from Tom Skinner who had played for Gresley's youth team in their 1-0 win at Willenhall earlier in the week.
