Development Centre - Gresley FC in the Community

Vision:

To have an academy full of confident, able young footballers who enjoy playing an exciting brand of football

Philosophy:

Purposeful possession with positive play through the thirds, both as a team and an individual

Development Centre aims

  • Our aim is to have a player centred approach and help every player to become "the best possible player they can be".
  • As a non-league club we operate outside of the restrictions children have when signing for a professional club; therefore all of our boys receive professional academy level training during the week but can also continue playing with their friends for their local side at the weekend
  • To identify and recruit the most talented players, within the locality of the club
  • To provide quality coaching, education and welfare at all age groups, and at all levels
  • To enhance player development, incorporating the principles of Long Term Player Development (LTPD) and the FA's 4 Corner Model, providing individuals with technical, physiological, psychological and social knowledge to achieve their full potential
  • To help build better people as well as better players

Development Centre objectives

  • To develop talented, creative and well-rounded players for the Gresley FC first team annually.
  • To establish squads for Under 12s to Under 18 age groups
  • To establish a challenging and structured technical programme, incorporating the principles of LTPD, which is to be followed by all coaching staff
  • To provide competitive matches against similar non-league teams and professional development centres & shadow squads.

Coaching aims

  • Understand differing needs of players. Coaching should be relevant, realistic, engaging and challenging for ALL.
  • Develop the 'person', not just the player
  • Allow the players to have some ownership and decision making of sessions
  • Try to develop brave players - players who will attempt new things and be creative without fear of failure or criticism
